Stats
Bio
Recruited from Benalla in the Ovens and Murray Football League, Brian Symes was a product of North Melbourne’s productive country zone during the early 1970s. Standing 183cm, he possessed the frame of a solid utility or flanker and broke into the senior side for two matches during the 1972 VFL season. His brief tenure at Arden Street occurred during a difficult transitional phase for the Kangaroos, with his appearances coming just prior to the arrival of Ron Barassi and the club's subsequent golden era. Unable to secure a long-term position in the starting lineup, Symes stands as a representative of the many talented bush footballers who gained a fleeting taste of League football before eventually making way as the club began its aggressive recruiting drive for a maiden premiership.
