Bio
A qualified stockbroker who paused his finance career to chase an AFL opportunity, Broc McCauley was a mature-age ruckman recruited from QAFL powerhouse Southport after an earlier stint as a soccer goalkeeper. He initially joined the Brisbane Lions as a rookie, where he managed three senior appearances covering for injuries but found himself stuck behind established big men Matthew Leuenberger and Mitch Clark. Delisted after the 2011 season, the 202cm Queenslander was thrown a lifeline by Hawthorn, who required readymade ruck depth to support an injury-hit list. McCauley added another three games in brown and gold during 2012—most notably shouldering the load against Collingwood in Round 1—before retiring to return to the corporate world.
