Bio
Recruited from the small Wimmera club of Leeor, Bruce Dodson was a high-marking half-forward who made his brief but notable mark at Essendon in the early 1970s. He broke into the senior lineup in 1971, playing 11 games and booting three goals as the Bombers struggled to find form. Although he could not retain a spot in the senior side the following season, his character and work ethic were recognised when he won the Reserves Best Clubman award in 1972. Dodson eventually requested a clearance back to the bush, where he forged a successful career as a captain-coach for both Leeor and Nhill in country Victoria.
