Bio
Born into football royalty as the son of dual Carlton premiership player Martin Gotz, Bruce Gotz was a towering figure for the era who joined St Kilda during the 1934 season. Standing 188cm, he provided a rare physical presence and was utilised as a tall forward option for the Saints. He broke into the senior lineup in Round 3 against Fitzroy at the Brunswick Street Oval, where he booted a goal on debut in a high-scoring loss. He held his spot for a daunting trip to Victoria Park to face Collingwood the following week but was unable to cement a permanent place in the side. His top-level career was ultimately brief, restricted to just those two appearances, leaving him as one of the many "sons of guns" who had a short but sharp taste of VFL football.
