Bio
A product of Melbourne Grammar, Bruce Lang joined the Students while pursuing a medical degree at the University of Melbourne. His brief VFL tenure was confined to the 1912 season, where he managed six senior appearances and a solitary goal in a side that often struggled to match the physicality of the league's working-class powerhouses. Like many of his University teammates, Lang's football ambitions were secondary to his academic commitments and eventually eclipsed by national duty; he enlisted immediately following the outbreak of World War I, serving at Anzac Cove before being medically discharged. He ultimately traded the stethoscope for the plough, spending his post-war life as a soldier settler farmer in Swan Hill rather than returning to elite football.
