Bio
Recruited from East Malvern, Bruce Sloss established himself as a premier follower during a short but brilliant VFL career that began at Essendon. After playing in the Dons' 1908 Grand Final loss, he sat out the 1909 season due to a clearance dispute before crossing to South Melbourne, where he truly flourished as an industrious and highly skilled rover. Renowned for his exceptional stamina, pace, and ability to read the play, Sloss was named the Champion of the Colony in 1911, cementing his status as one of the competition's elite midfielders. His career was tragically cut short by the outbreak of World War I; after playing his final game in 1914, he enlisted and was later killed in action in France, remembered as one of the finest players of his era to never capture a premiership.
