Bio
Recruited from the Hampton Scouts, Bruce Smith was a tall, lightly framed key forward who showed promise at Punt Road without ever quite cementing a permanent senior spot. While he managed a memorable five-goal haul against Carlton in 1964, Smith was most dominant in the seconds, where he won the VFL reserves goalkicking title that same season. Finding opportunities limited at the highest level, he transferred to Dandenong in the VFA, where he immediately flourished as the club's leading goalkicker in 1966 and played a crucial role in their 1967 premiership victory before retiring to pursue business interests.
