Bio
A towering 196cm ruckman from Wonthaggi Rovers, Bryan Clements arrived at Fitzroy after a recruiting tug-of-war that saw the Lions beat out Melbourne for his signature. While studying at Melbourne Teachers' College, his dominance in midweek competition attracted significant VFL interest, but he rejected the Demons' aggressive advances to honor his commitment to Fitzroy. His four-season tenure at Brunswick Street coincided with a bleak era for the club, and he experienced victory just twice in his 23 senior appearances. However, one of those wins guaranteed his place in club folklore, as he shouldered the ruck duties in the famous 1963 "Miracle Match," where a young and struggling Lions outfit stunned the eventual premiers Geelong. Clements departed the VFL at the end of 1964 to forge a distinguished country career, playing over 100 games and coaching Eaglehawk in the Bendigo Football League.
