Stats
Bio
Recruited from Kyabram in the Goulburn Valley, Pleitner was a solidly built utility who spent four seasons with Footscray before a mid-year switch to Hawthorn in 1968. Despite his 187cm frame offering versatility, he struggled to command a regular senior spot at the Western Oval and added just a single VFL game to his tally after moving to Glenferrie, debuting for the Hawks in Round 12 against Essendon before departing the league. His career truly flourished after he crossed the Nullarbor to join West Perth in 1969, where he found immediate success in the WAFL. Thriving under the mentorship of legendary captain-coach Graham 'Polly' Farmer, Pleitner became a defensive stalwart for the Cardinals, playing a crucial role in the club's 1969 and 1971 premiership victories and eventually earning life membership for his contribution to West Australian football.
