Bio
Recruited from Maryborough in central Victoria, Mervyn "Bud" Annand established himself as a reliable wingman for St Kilda after making his debut in 1956. Joining the club during a prolonged period of on-field struggle, Annand became a fixture in a side that often found itself near the bottom of the ladder, providing consistent service through the midfield without being a prolific goal-kicker. His durability allowed him to become one of the few players of his era to notch a century of games for the Saints, playing a role in stabilizing the lineup during the lean years.
Annand remained a one-club player throughout his VFL tenure, helping the team through a gradual rebuilding phase under coach Allan Jeans in his final seasons. He retired from top-level football at the end of 1962, departing Moorabbin just as the club began its ascent toward the 1966 premiership. While he missed out on the club's ultimate success, he is remembered as a dedicated servant who held his position during one of the most testing decades in St Kilda's history.
