Teams

Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens with a late selection in the 2011 National Draft, Cam Sutcliffe established himself as a reliable component of Fremantle's disciplined defensive unit under Ross Lyon. Often utilised as a running defender with strong endurance, he became a consistent selection during the Dockers' most successful era, famously starting as the substitute in the club's historic 2013 Grand Final appearance against Hawthorn. Over eight seasons in the west, he played over 100 games before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2018 season as the club looked to regenerate its list.

Sutcliffe returned to South Australia to captain the Port Adelaide Magpies in the state league, but his AFL career received an unexpected second chapter when the Power selected him with pick 9 in the inaugural 2019 Mid-Season Rookie Draft. Brought in to provide mature leadership and immediate depth, he was often deployed in a different capacity at Alberton, tasked with specific run-with roles and operating as a defensive forward to shut down opposition playmakers. Although his second stint at the top level ended after the 2020 season, Sutcliffe remained a significant figure at the club, continuing to lead the SANFL side as captain and mentor to developing prospects.
