Bio
The son of Carlton legend Ken Hunter, Cameron Hunter arrived at Melbourne via pick 54 in the 2002 National Draft after the Blues famously passed on him as a father-son prospect due to concerns over his extremely slight frame. Possessing the same aerial bravery and disregard for personal safety as his father, Hunter was an athletic utility who unfortunately struggled to add the muscle mass required for AFL football. He earned a brief taste of senior action with two games late in the 2003 season, debuting during a difficult patch for the Demons, but found himself physically overpowered by mature opponents. Unable to bulk up sufficiently to hold a spot in the 22, he was delisted at the end of 2004, though he later validated his reputation for toughness by winning a Most Courageous award with Box Hill in the VFL.
