Bio
Selected by Greater Western Sydney with pick 14 in the 2013 National Draft, Cam McCarthy burst onto the scene as a mobile forward with a natural goal sense and the capacity to finish from long range. After a breakout 2015 season yielded 35 goals, he stepped away from football the following year citing mental health reasons and homesickness, eventually securing a trade home to Fremantle ahead of the 2017 season. McCarthy made an immediate impact for the Dockers, topping the club's goalkicking in his debut year in purple, but struggled to maintain consistency in subsequent seasons while managing an epilepsy diagnosis. He was delisted at the conclusion of 2020 after 70 senior games, remembered as a popular teammate and a naturally gifted footballer whose life was tragically cut short in 2024.
