Bio
Recruited from the Darwin Buffaloes with pick 54 in the 2008 Rookie Draft, Cameron Stokes arrived at Hawthorn with a strong football pedigree as a relative of the Rioli and Long dynasties. A diminutive small forward valued for his defensive pressure and tackling intensity, he debuted in the opening round of the 2008 season alongside his cousin Cyril Rioli. While he managed nine games during the Hawks' premiership year, he was squeezed out of the side prior to the finals series and missed the ultimate success. His short career was ultimately defined by misfortune with injury, notably recurring hamstring issues and a ruptured ACL sustained while playing for Box Hill in 2010. Unable to get a clear run at senior football, Stokes was delisted at the end of the 2010 season.
