Stats
Bio
A tall, aggressive key defender from Western Australia, Cameron Venables arrived at Collingwood as a mature-age recruit intended to shore up a struggling backline. Originally developing his craft with Subiaco, he spent time on Fremantle’s rookie list without registering a senior game before solidifying his draft prospects at Claremont. The Magpies selected him with pick 13 in the 1999 Pre-Season Draft, and he was immediately deployed in Round 1 against the Dockers. Despite his 193cm frame and readiness for senior football, Venables played just the first three matches of the season before falling out of favour in a year where Collingwood ultimately claimed the wooden spoon. He was delisted after a single season, continuing his career in the SANFL with Glenelg before eventually returning to the WAFL.
