Bio
Recruited by the Brisbane Lions with pick 18 in the 2004 National Draft, Cameron Wood entered the AFL as a mobile ruck prospect but found opportunities limited behind established seniors. He requested a trade to Collingwood at the end of 2007, where he was brought in to support Josh Fraser and eventually assume the number one mantle. Despite showcasing good endurance and ball-winning ability for a 204cm player, Wood struggled to find consistency and eventually fell behind dual-premiership ruckman Darren Jolly in the pecking order, serving as a backup during the Magpies' 2010 premiership window. After being delisted and spending a year in the VFL, he was recruited by Carlton as a mature-age rookie to cover long-term injuries to Matthew Kreuzer, finishing his career as a serviceable journeyman who provided ruck depth across three clubs.
