Bio
Arriving from VFA club Brunswick, Charles "Bones" Clements was a prolific full-forward who made a distinct mark on South Melbourne despite a brief two-season career. He immediately assumed the role of the club's spearhead, topping South's goalkicking in both 1904 and 1905 and featuring in the 1904 Grand Final side that fell to Fitzroy. While his average of over two goals per game showcased his talent, Clements is often remembered for a peculiar half-time ritual where he would reportedly leave the ground to down three beers at a nearby pub before returning for the third quarter. He ultimately left the VFL to return to the VFA, continuing his playing days with Brunswick and later Northcote.
