Bio
Recruited from the Ascot Juniors, Charlie Bennie was a rover and forward pocket who made the most of his brief tenure at Punt Road during the 1912 season. Often referred to as "Benny" by the contemporary press, he proved to be a reliable avenue to goal, booting majors in five of his eight senior appearances after debuting against Collingwood in Round 5. Despite showing promise as a handy contributor who could rotate through the midfield and attack, his VFL career was bookended by matches against the Magpies, as he played his final game in Round 14 that same year. He was subsequently cleared to VFA club Brunswick in April 1913 before later serving as vice-captain for Ascot Vale in the local leagues.
