Bio
Charlie Bovill is a promising key defender who has emerged as one of Tasmania's premier prospects ahead of the 2026 AFL Draft. Coming through the pathway with the Tasmania Devils in the Talent League, Bovill impressed enough to be named captain of his side during his draft year. He represented the Allies at the 2026 National Championships, where his strong performances in defence earned him Under 18 All Australian honours. This backed up the All Australian selection he achieved at Under 16 level two years prior.
Primarily deployed as a third tall defender, Bovill is at his best when rolling off his direct opponent to intercept and provide rebound from the back half. His athleticism and 192cm frame have also seen him gain exposure on the wing, highlighting his versatility. While scouts have praised his size and rebounding drive, his decision making and kicking execution remain key areas for development. Widely rated as a top 40 national prospect, Bovill is heavily tipped to remain in his home state. The incoming Tasmania Devils hold priority access concessions for the 2026 draft pool, making him a prime candidate to join their inaugural list.
