Bio
A "true blue" local born into a prominent Carlton family—his father was a Justice of the Peace and leather manufacturer—Charlie Curtis cut his teeth with the local Cardigans side before graduating to senior football. A rover by trade, Curtis actually debuted for the Blues in the VFA in 1896, bridging the gap into the club's foundation VFL era where he became a serviceable follower between 1898 and 1900. While he never established himself as a star of the competition, eventually departing for a stint with Richmond in the VFA in 1901, his family's connection to Princes Park was extended more than a decade later when his younger brother, Harry Curtis, also donned the navy blue guernsey.
