Stats
Bio
Recruited from local side Surreys, Charlie Fehring was a physically imposing figure for his era, weighing in at over 100 kilograms and utilising his significant frame as a strong-marking ruckman and forward. He made an immediate impact at Punt Road, topping Richmond’s goalkicking table in his debut 1917 season, although his place in the side became inconsistent in subsequent years. After a memorable appearance alongside his brother Arthur in 1919 and a stint in the VFA with Hawthorn, Fehring earned a VFL lifeline with Essendon in 1921. His tenure at Windy Hill began in spectacular fashion with eight goals across his first two matches, but his form tapered off as quickly as it had arrived, resulting in a swift exit from the league to play country football.
