Bio
Recruited from Sandhurst in the Bendigo Football League, Charlie King was a solidly built utility who earned his opportunity with Geelong during the club's rapid rise under Reg Hickey. Standing 178cm and weighing 82kg, he possessed a sturdy frame well-suited to the physical contests of the late 1940s. He made his debut in Round 8 of the 1949 season against Richmond and managed to hold his place for six senior appearances as the Cats surged toward the minor premiership. Despite breaking into the lineup during this successful campaign, King was unable to retain his spot for the finals series or the subsequent golden era of the early 1950s, leaving Kardinia Park after a single season of senior football.
