Bio
Recruited from the local Fitzroy District ranks, Charlie Linney broke into the senior side during the club's famous 1944 campaign. Standing at 175cm, he was a defensive-minded player who struggled to cement a permanent spot in a star-studded lineup that went on to claim the premiership that season. While he managed just two appearances in his debut year and missed out on the Grand Final glory, he remained with the Lions for two more seasons as a depth player. Linney eventually finished his VFL career with 12 games to his name, serving as a backup option during a golden era for the Maroon and Blue.
