Bio
Recruited from local side Spotswood United, Charlie Page was a prolific full-forward whose promising VFL career was cut short in its prime by World War II. After booting three goals on debut in his sole appearance of 1938, Page quickly established himself as the focal point of the Footscray attack, topping the club's goalkicking table in both 1939 and 1940. His most dominant performance came in the opening round of the 1940 season, where he snagged a career-high nine majors against a powerhouse Richmond outfit. Despite managing a strong return of 27 goals in 11 games during the 1941 season, Page enlisted in the Australian Army, forcing him to walk away from league football at just 24 years of age with an elite average of 2.6 goals per game.
