Bio
A mature-age recruit from VFA powerhouse Port Melbourne, Charlie Robertson joined South Melbourne at the turn of the century to test his abilities in the VFL. Standing 179cm—a solid height for the era—he made his debut at 27 years of age in the opening round of the 1900 season, likely filling a role as a defensive utility or follower. Despite his association experience, Robertson found regular senior opportunities limited, managing five appearances in his debut year and adding just a solitary game in 1901. He departed the league without registering a goal, one of many experienced VFA campaigners who provided brief depth for VFL clubs during the competition's formative years.
