Bio
Recruited from Burwood, Charlie Sherer joined Hawthorn in 1927 as the club struggled to establish a competitive foothold in its early VFL years. Operating primarily as a wingman who could also drift back into defence, he quickly found a place in the senior side, playing 13 matches in his debut season for the Mayblooms. Sherer remained a consistent contributor at Glenferrie Oval during a lean period where wins were scarce, adding depth to the lineup over three seasons. He made 32 appearances in total before concluding his league career at the end of the 1929 season.
