Stats
Bio
Recruited from Clarence Juniors in Clifton Hill, Charlie "Buffer" Sime was a clever and consistent winger who established himself as a key figure during Collingwood's successful VFA era. Making his debut in 1892, he formed a lethal wing partnership with club legend Charlie Pannam Snr, providing a cerebral counterpoint to the more dashing styles of his teammates. Sime holds the distinction of playing in the Magpies' inaugural VFL match against St Kilda in Round 1, 1897, and remained a regular fixture in the side during the league's formative seasons. Known for using his head and reading the play rather than relying solely on athleticism, he was a reliable servant who helped bridge the club's transition from a VFA powerhouse to a VFL contender before finishing his career in 1901.
