Bio
Born in South Australia and recruited from Yarraville, Charles "Chook" Zinnick was a versatile follower and defender whose career bridged the VFA and VFL eras. He first broke into the league with Essendon in 1921, making thirteen appearances for the Same Olds, but found his true home after transferring to Footscray in the VFA. Zinnick became a key figure in the Tricolours' dominance of the early 1920s, playing in both the 1923 and 1924 premiership sides and featuring in the famous Championship of Victoria victory over his former club. Although he remained on the list when Footscray joined the VFL in 1925, the veteran managed just one final senior game before retiring, leaving a legacy defined by his pivotal role in the club's pre-League golden age.
