Bio
Recruited from Lower Plenty, Chris Aitken was a talented forward whose time at the top level was decimated by chronic injuries. After debuting in the opening round of 1967 and showing glimpses of his potential with a haul of five goals later that season, persistent ankle and knee problems saw him miss the entire 1968 and 1970 seasons. Following a stint in the VFA with Oakleigh and country football at Foster, Aitken made a remarkable return to the Demons in 1977—six years after his last senior appearance—to play three final games as a 28-year-old. A capable sportsman who also played representative cricket for Victoria Country against touring international sides, he is the older brother of musician and television personality Wilbur Wilde.
