Bio
A dual-sport prospect recruited from Ararat, Chris Dalkin arrived at Victoria Park with a burgeoning reputation as a fast bowler, having toured Pakistan with the Australian Under-19 cricket team just prior to his VFL debut. Standing 191cm but lightly framed, he was a rangy utility capable of playing as a tall winger or flanker, relying on his athleticism and overhead marking rather than wrestling in the key position posts. While he showed early promise by playing 10 games in his debut 1982 season, he struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side during a tumultuous era for the Magpies, eventually missing the entire 1984 season. After four years on the fringe of selection, he headed west to continue his career with Port Adelaide in the SANFL.
