Bio
Recruited with the tenth selection in the 2004 National Draft from the Murray Bushrangers, Chris Egan arrived at Collingwood with high expectations attached to his raw athleticism and versatility. An exciting utility capable of playing as a rebounding defender or a creative forward, Egan possessed a natural flair and speed that occasionally broke games open, most notably during the Magpies' 2006 finals campaign where he showcased his talent on the big stage against West Coast. However, his career was ultimately defined by a struggle for consistency and recurring injury setbacks which prevented him from cementing a permanent role in Mick Malthouse's lineup. After managing just 27 games across four seasons, he was delisted at the conclusion of 2008, leaving his potential as a top-ten draft pick largely unfulfilled at the AFL level.
