Recruited from Benalla in the Ovens and Murray Football League, Chris Elliott was a diminutive rover who earned his shot at VFL level with South Melbourne in the mid-1970s. Standing just 171cm, he managed eight senior games for the Swans between 1976 and 1979, kicking his solitary career goal during a period where he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior side. After returning to the country to forge a successful local career, he made an unusual return to the League more than five years later, joining Richmond in 1986. Already in his mid-30s during this second stint, he served as a depth player and reserves contributor for the Tigers until 1988 but did not add to his senior game tally.
