Bio
Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers with pick 36 in the 2000 National Draft, Chris Hyde was a hard-working left-footer who filled a variety of roles for Richmond during a challenging era for the club. Originally deployed as a running midfielder or half-forward, he later found a niche as a disciplined tagger, using his endurance to shut down dangerous opponents while winning his own ball. He played his most consistent football in 2006, finishing seventh in the Jack Dyer Medal, but often found himself on the fringe of selection as the club looked to inject more speed into the lineup. After struggling to secure a regular senior spot in his final year, Hyde was delisted at the end of the 2008 season just seven games shy of the 100-game milestone, a casualty of the Tigers' list regeneration strategy under Terry Wallace.
