Bio
Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers with the 13th selection in the 1998 National Draft, Chris Lamb was a key defender who arrived at Melbourne with significant expectations as a first-round pick. Despite his high draft status, he struggled to command a regular spot in the Demons' backline during his early years, finding himself stuck behind established tall defenders like Alistair Nicholson and Anthony Ingerson. His career best form came in 2002 when he was called upon to replace an injured Nicholson; he played 13 games that season, showing promise as a spoiling full-back and earning the club's Most Improved Player award. However, Lamb could not maintain that momentum, managing just three games the following season before spending the entirety of 2004 in the VFL with affiliate side Sandringham. He was delisted at the end of that year, finishing with 19 senior appearances across six seasons before becoming a premiership player at VFL level.
