Bio
Chris Lewis was an inaugural member of the West Coast Eagles, joining the club from Claremont for their entry into the VFL in 1987. A gifted ball-winner with exceptional skills on both sides of the body, Lewis established himself as a key component of the Eagles' midfield and forward line during their golden era. He possessed a fiery temperament that frequently resulted in tribunal visits and suspensions, a volatility that often contrasted with his smooth, classy movement and elite disposal on the field.
Despite these disciplinary battles, his impact on the contest was undeniable. He claimed the Club Champion award in 1990 and played an instrumental role in the groundbreaking 1992 and 1994 premiership sides. Lewis remained a one-club player throughout his 14-season career, retiring in 2000 as a life member and a revered figure at West Coast. His standing in the game was further recognised with his selection in the Indigenous Team of the Century, celebrating his contribution as one of the most talented players of his generation.
