Bio
Recruited from North Broken Hill in the mining heartland of western New South Wales, Chris Lynch arrived at Kardinia Park as a tall, sturdy prospect standing 188cm. He made his senior debut in 1972 but found regular selection difficult to come by, managing just a handful of games as a key position utility over three seasons. While unable to cement a permanent spot in the seniors, Lynch enjoyed success with the club's lower grades, notably playing in the Cats' 1975 reserves premiership side. His football journey ultimately became a footnote to a formidable post-playing career, where he swapped the boots for the boardroom to become a titan of Australian industry with BHP and Transurban, eventually returning to the sport's top level as a long-serving AFL Commissioner.
