Bio
Recruited from Old Geelong Grammarians, Chris Mitchell was an athletic ruck-forward who made an immediate impact at Kardinia Park, playing in the 1967 Grand Final in his debut season alongside the legendary Polly Farmer. After a two-year stint in the WAFL with East Perth, he returned to the Cats in 1971 but featured in only a handful of games before executing a rare mid-season switch to Carlton. Mitchell famously debuted for the Blues against his former side just weeks after the clearance, booting five goals in a dominant display at Princes Park. Despite this promising start in navy blue, his VFL career was cut short at just 24 years of age when he retired to pursue professional opportunities in the mining industry.
