Stats
Bio
Recruited from Melton via the Western Jets with pick 19 in the 1997 National Draft, Chris Obst was a promising half-back whose top-level career was severely hampered by persistent injuries. He struggled to secure a permanent spot in Hawthorn's best 22, managing just 17 senior games across four seasons, though he did taste success as a member of the Box Hill Hawks' 2001 VFL premiership side. Following his delisting by Hawthorn, he was offered a lifeline by Sydney in the 2002 Rookie Draft but was unable to break into the Swans' senior lineup before being cut at the end of the year. While his AFL tenure was brief, Obst went on to forge a respected career at the state level, becoming a stalwart and captain for Port Melbourne in the VFL.
