Bio
A product of the NSW/ACT Rams development pathway, Chris Oliver was a tall ruck-forward prospect who took a scenic route to St Kilda. Originally hailing from Campbelltown, he spent a pre-season training with Fremantle before the Saints offered him a lifeline via the rookie list. Standing 195cm, Oliver was used primarily as a backup option for the club's big man stocks during the turbulent transition period between coaches Malcolm Blight and Grant Thomas. While he had the frame to compete in the ruck and the versatility to drift forward, he struggled to cement a spot in the senior side, frequently shuffling between the AFL and VFL affiliate Springvale. Unable to string more than two consecutive senior games together during his three seasons at Moorabbin, he was delisted at the end of 2003 and continued his career in the SANFL with Sturt.
