Stats
Bio
Hailing from Cohuna in northern Victoria, Chris Waterson joined Fitzroy as a teenager via pick 17 in the 1987 National Draft. He served a classic apprenticeship in the twos, notably featuring in the Roys' dramatic 1989 Reserves Premiership victory where the side overcame a significant deficit to snatch the flag. A light-framed utility and small forward, Waterson eventually broke into the senior side in 1990, making his debut against Essendon at Windy Hill. He managed 13 games and seven goals across two seasons, often rotating through the forward line, but was unable to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup during a challenging era for the club. He departed the AFL landscape after 1991, returning to the bush to captain-coach Cohuna and becoming a respected figure in regional football.
