Stats
Bio
Recruited from Shepparton United, Chris Woodman was a versatile tall who spent five seasons on Melbourne’s list in the late 1970s. Standing 194cm, he was primarily a ruckman who could drift forward to become a dangerous marking target, averaging nearly a goal a game at senior level. Despite his physical attributes, Woodman struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior 22, instead forging a reputation as a dominant force in the lower grades. He won back-to-back reserves Best and Fairest awards in 1978 and 1979 and topped the reserves goalkicking in 1980, proving himself consistently a cut above that level. Unable to translate that dominance into a long-term senior career, he was delisted prior to the 1981 season and moved to the VFA to play for Dandenong.
