Bio
Clarrie "Fuzzy" Swenson was a lively forward pocket whose VFL career was heavily impacted by the Second World War. Developing through the Collingwood Juniors, he made a solitary senior appearance in 1941 before his football ambitions were put on hold for military service. Swenson returned to Victoria Park in 1946 but struggled to cement a spot in the Magpies' best 22, prompting a transfer to Hawthorn the following season in search of regular game time. The move proved fruitful, as he became a reliable goal-kicker at Glenferrie Oval, using his agility to crumb loose balls and hit the scoreboard consistently over three seasons. He eventually departed the league to pursue a successful stint as captain-coach of Trafalgar, where he cemented his reputation by winning the Central Gippsland League's best and fairest award.
