Teams

Recruited from local side Abbotsford, Clarrie Tolson was a diminutive half-forward who faced the difficult task of breaking into Collingwood's star-studded lineup during the tail end of the famous "Machine" era. Standing just 170cm, Tolson relied on agility and crumbing instincts to impact contests, earning his debut in Round 6 of the 1931 season against St Kilda. He managed to retain his place for seven senior appearances in a team featuring the likes of Harry Collier and Gordon Coventry, booting two goals before losing his spot late in the year. Ultimately unable to secure a permanent position in one of the strongest lists in VFL history, Tolson spent the 1932 season in the reserves before departing Victoria Park.
