Bio
Recruited from Diamond Creek where he played alongside the famous Coventry brothers, Clem Splatt initially struggled to establish himself at Collingwood, managing just two senior appearances in 1922. He found his true home after transferring to Hawthorn during their VFA era, becoming a pivotal figure in their transition to the VFL in 1925. A tall and imposing key position player renowned for his aerial strength, Splatt started Hawthorn's inaugural VFL season at centre half-forward before shifting to centre half-back, where he produced a best-on-ground performance in the club’s historic first VFL win against Footscray. He polled well in the 1925 Brownlow Medal and was appointed vice-captain the following year, but severe knee injuries sustained in 1926 and 1927 ultimately forced the talented big man into premature retirement.
