Stats
Bio
Recruited from Cressy in Victoria's Western District, Clete Turner was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who had to travel a difficult road to establish himself at the elite level. Standing just 170cm, he initially struggled to find consistent senior opportunities during brief, stop-start stints with Geelong and Fitzroy, where he spent three seasons on the fringe of selection. His career finally gained traction when he crossed to Princes Park in 1935, where he produced his most consistent football, missing only one match for the year and cementing a spot in the Blues' lineup during their finals campaign. Despite finally breaking through as a regular VFL player, his time at the top was cut short, and he departed the league following his best individual season to continue his career in the VFA with Camberwell.
