Bio
Hailing from Kalgoorlie, Cliff Tyson was the younger brother of the legendary and controversial Collingwood and North Melbourne captain Charlie Tyson. Recruited from Lake Boga in country Victoria, he broke into the VFL ranks with North Melbourne in 1929, making a single senior appearance while his brother served as the club's captain-coach. After a four-year hiatus from the league, Tyson earned a second chance with Melbourne in 1933, where he played as a forward and booted his lone career goal across two matches. While his time at the elite level was fleeting, his ability to crack two separate VFL lists remains a testament to his persistence and adds a fascinating footnote to the Tyson family legacy.
