Stats
Bio
Hailing from Mingenew via East Fremantle, Clinton Browning was a versatile key position talent whose VFL/AFL career was sandwiched between periods of WAFL stardom. Initially a dominant full-forward who booted six goals in East Fremantle's 1985 premiership victory, he was recruited by Hawthorn for the 1986 season but found himself stuck in the reserves behind a formidable senior lineup during the club's golden era. After returning to the WAFL, Browning was thrown a lifeline by West Coast as a 27-year-old mature-age recruit in the 1989 Pre-season Draft. He managed four senior appearances for the Eagles, showing glimpses of his scoring power with two-goal hauls against Brisbane and Collingwood, but was unable to secure a permanent spot in the 22. Following his delisting, he returned to the Sharks and reinvented himself as a defender, famously capping his career by winning the Simpson Medal as best on ground at full-back in the 1992 WAFL Grand Final.
