Bio
A local West Footscray recruit who served in the Second AIF during World War II, Clive Yewers etched his name into the history books with a memorable start to his brief VFL career. He broke into the senior side in Round 11, 1947 against South Melbourne at the Lake Oval, where he started as the 20th man before replacing the injured Arthur Olliver and famously booting a goal with his very first kick in league football. Standing 183cm, Yewers was a capable option in attack but found regular opportunities limited at the Kennel, managing just 11 appearances across two seasons. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the starting 18, he was eventually cleared to neighbouring VFA club Yarraville in 1949, where he continued his football journey in the Association.
