Bio
Recruited from Tasmanian powerhouse North Hobart, Clyde Beattie arrived at St Kilda in 1930 with a reputation forged in the TFL's golden era. A stocky and energetic rover or forward pocket, he made an immediate impact by breaking into the senior lineup for the opening round of the season. His most notable performance came in Round 2 against South Melbourne at the Junction Oval, where he booted two goals to help the Saints secure a comfortable victory. However, his VFL tenure proved fleeting; he played the first five consecutive matches of the year before losing his place in the side and eventually returning to the Apple Isle. Despite his brief stint in Melbourne, Beattie remains a respected figure in Tasmanian football history and is recognised as one of North Hobart's notable VFL exports.
