Bio
Recruited from Clarence in Tasmania, Colin Alexander was a dynamic rover and forward pocket who looked destined for a long career after being selected by Collingwood in the 1988 National Draft. He made an immediate impression at Victoria Park, using his pace and acute goal sense to boot 25 goals in his debut season and win the Harry Collier Trophy as the club's best first-year player. However, his momentum was quickly halted by a series of injuries and suspension, which cruelly forced him to watch the Magpies' historic 1990 premiership from the sidelines. Seeking a fresh start, Alexander was traded to the Brisbane Bears in 1992—effectively crossing paths with Brad Hardie who moved the other way—but his misfortune continued. A serious knee injury sustained in Round 3 against Fitzroy virtually ended his AFL tenure, restricting him to just five games for the Bears before he departed the league at only 23 years of age.
